The sun is always there, even when she isn't.

It poured here today.

POURED.

Just as my class let out, the drops started. Within a few minutes it was teeming down.

Then, just like that, the sun came out, peekin’ through the clouds.

Just like that!

I know there is a lesson in this day’s weather somewhere. But when we’re a little down, it’s probably harder to see…

But I saw.

So, I will have faith that tomorrow, the sun will shine again, even if it’s raining.

After all, the sun is always there, even if she can’t peek out all the time.

Just when you think it isn't anything special...

Nature is raging here.

Pounding, throbbing, gusting, beating.

Raging.

They say this might be the biggest storm since ‘93. Maybe even longer. Who knows? So much depends on what part of the state you’re sitting in. So much depends on where you are when it hits, and how you react to it all.

But it’s raging outside.

Tornado? Maybe. Flooding? Definitely.

There’s always that feeling of…well…awe, when we see what nature does in fury. Big snow, big rain, big wind all have their day in the world, and we always marvel at it.

But let me ask you something. Do you ever marvel at nature when “nothing” is going on?

Seriously.

How often do you go outside on a partly cloudy, 79 degree day at 2pm when nothing spectacular is going on and wonder at…how spectacular that is?

I donno. I haven’t really thought about this this way before. Maybe when it clears on Sunday, I’ll go outside and really pay attention.

I’ll take in the cool air and the smell of the rains just passed. I’ll delight in the light breeze and the broken clouds. I’ll let in the sun, the sound of birds, and the movement of trees. I’ll fill my lungs greedily with fresh oxygen and selflessly breathe back out into the world. I’ll see dew on a blade of grass, and imagine soaked-in waters coursing below me underground. I’ll look into the sky and let the light create tears of gratitude that I live in such an amazing place. That it is possible. That anything is possible. That what was once shrouded in fury is now settled in peace…

Or maybe I won’t. I haven’t on so many other occasions.

After all, it’s nothing spectacular, right?
