Ah, the Super Bowl.
I didn’t really care this year. It wasn’t THAT super, but I suppose if you are from New Orleans, it was really great.
Not so much if you’re from Indy (unless, of course, you are a transplant from Louisiana to Indiana…then, maybe it was still great for you, so congratulations on that).
But hey, there was some entertainment in there. Some odd commercials. A pretty cool halftime. There were some great plays…some great moments…and, thanks to my bro and sis-in-law, some great food and company.
So, the day itself was pretty super, even if the teams weren’t my faves.
I think the most striking thing about the Super Bowl, though, is all the buildup. So much! All the hype. All the guessing. All the predicting. Heck, I think the Oregon Zoo even has primates who predict the winners of such events. Wow. Look out Punxsutawney Phil!
And now? The history is being written, the reviews are being…reviewed, and we’re looking back on the predictions to see just how close we were, or if we won any money on the bets we made (I didn’t).
Good lord!
Does it ever stop?
No.
Consider how much of our life is like this. How much is buildup and how much is regret? How much is prediction and how much is review? So much being in stress and so much trying to relax.
Wow. With all that going on, it’s a wonder we are even able to play a football game, much less the game of life.
